Internal and external migration is increasingly becoming a livelihoods choice in Myanmar. LIFT has therefore enlisted the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to offer technical support on migration to LIFT's Delta 3 implementing partners.
In their Migration as a Livelihood Diversification Strategy in the Delta (MILDAS) advisory project, IOM stresses the importance for partners to understand the possible impacts of migration on a community. For example, the elements of social life can be greatly affected, with changed responsibilities, and remittances can alter a community's economy.
